Look at SAT scores before sending your son / daughter to MAHS. Be prepared to hear every excuse known to man on why MAHS does so poorly on standardized testing.

The teachers are average at best, the coaches are VERY sub-par, the new principal is the best thing to happen to this school in years but he has a TOUGH road ahead of him. The student body are accustomed mediocrity. Exellence is not even in the lexicon at this school.....Parents beware!

MAHS is an excellent school that offers a diversity of subjects and extra activities. This school does not baby students what your child puts into the school he or she will get out. If your kid is in highschool he/she should know what is expected of them and put in 100% effort. They get rid of the trouble makers and focus on the children that are there to learn. If your child is Military bound this school offers the best JROTC program around. They are hands on with the kids and have many activities going on year round not just during the school year. Col. Hoff and Sgt. Williams are great role models and are very passionate about teaching our kids about the military.

My child is an upcoming Jr and had a chance to move to the newly built school. HE chose to stay as he feels that the diversity, academics and the lack of huge emphasis on sports involvement on being 'popular' makes this school special. I am concerned about the change in leadership being a challenge for this school because Dr. Royal was an awesome principal and leader, I feel that we have great staff, leaders and students. There is a huge rift that has never been substansiated and used against MAHS, and it is just plain rediculous...This is an awesome school, with awesome kids, and awesome teachers...Anyone with an otherwise opinion can move. Thank God we live in America where we have that choice. No one forces you to be here, so if you don't like our school, pay for another, or move into another district. Enough said!

Monroe High School one first place in Technology/Engineering in Georgia,If your kid is good and smart will do good at Monroe,if they get in trouble and there lazy they will not baby sit kids, its more like college, you get what you put into it.Teacher to student ratio is great and lots of oportunities in sports and clubs for all kids not political about that, like Gwinnett and Oconee County.

I believe this school is lacking in every arena, from athletics to academics. The students are apathetic, the community is critical, yet unwilling to provide adequate support. The parental and administrative support is spotty at best. There are some teachers doing fine work but most cant wait for the last bell to ring. If you are moving to this area stay away from MAHS. North Oconee, Oconee County, Loganville, Apalachee & Grayson are all close by and far surpass this school in all areas.

i think that monroe area high school is the best school to attend as long as you are a very smart ans fast learning student you should not have any problems with anything the only thing that you just have 2 worry about is some of the students in the school because they are to busy saying he say she say stuff an d beijng in everybody business instead of minding thier own but other then that just choose your friends wisely and you won't have a problem

The school is very great; however there are many teachers that tend to be very rude to the students that are office aides and it make those students not want to work in the office. I also feel that the principal isn't doing his job as the leader of the school.

I look at MAHS very much as a diamond in the rough. The new facility is wonderful and the academic staff seems to be doing quality work. There seems to be,however,a lack of community pride and participation on the part of the student body which stems from losses on the athletic field. The students don't seem to embrace the school with any fervor. And school spirit is not being promoted by the student body.Parental participation is not sought by the athletic staff although there are parents eager to help.Pride in your school and community are powerful tools for a teacher.Success breeds success.A quality school is successful in all facets. And a student who takes pride is a successful student.

MAHS is a much improved school then what statistics will show you. They take pride in teaching our children and help out the parents when needed to keep the kids on the right track. This is important to High School kids and all of the staff learns what each individual child needs. We have had one child graduate from MAHS and one enrolled. The drug problem at this school is not like at many other schools in the area. The have great extras for the kids, outside classroom that the kids helped build and maintain, art, excellent JROTC program.

I think that this school is very good. There is alot of one on one for the students. Also, they have courses that help juniors to pass the GHSGT. Which are held in March. I would recommend anybody to go to this school. Also, they are in the process of building a state of the art school. Which will also better the students learning environment. MACHS is the best school in Walton County. The graduation test scores now need to be updated because the school has improved alot.
